Today's lifestyles have meant our demand for a good supply of hot water has steadily increased. This leaves developers with a dilemma - ensuring a decent supply of water without requiring a large hot water cylinder that will take up valuable space within the home.
In recent years, combination boilers have become prevalent in larger properties. Their popularity has been driven largely by the promise of instant hot water, but the need to install one box that fits into a kitchen cupboard has meant that new solutions were needed to meet the growing demand.
Yet as combi boilers become more prevalent, homeowners of larger properties (4/5 bedrooms/2 or 3 bathrooms) have become more aware of the disadvantages. Although the boilers do provide hot water on demand, there is a limit to the amount of water that can be provided at any one time. This means that baths take longer to fill and the temperature of a shower will be affected if the washing machine is also running, or even if another member of the house turns on a hot tap downstairs.
With increasing affluence of consumers resulting in larger houses with more bathrooms and the full range of white goods, including dishwashers, many of the current combi boilers on the market are unable to cope and in big properties developers need to revert back to a separate water tank. As a homeowner you are looking for bigger room sizes and more living space, with a boiler hidden from view, doing it's job day in day out with no fuss.
However, Ideal Boilers has the answer to these issues. The company's istor boiler has combined the boiler and water tank in one box, providing large amounts of hot water whenever required by the homeowner.
The istor boiler comes in two versions, the HE260 (cylinder size: 80 litres) and HE325 (cylinder size: 120 litres). These two figures represent the amount of water that each boiler will deliver in 10 minutes, ensuring that either is capable of heating a shower and a bath simultaneously. To achieve the best possible delivery rate, water is stored at 70°C and then blended with cold water to achieve a maximum temperature of 60°C. The tank will also recover in between 7 and 10 minutes, and for homeowners used to traditional tanks taking 20 or 30 minutes to refill, this will be a very pleasant change.
All parts associated with the istor are present in one box designed to fit into an airing cupboard or utility room, helping to free up valuable space in the kitchen. To ensure easy installation, the boiler comes in two parts which are then stacked together. Ideal has designed a pre-piping frame, which simplifies the necessary plumbing and no additional space is required around the boiler - the product height is the installation height
